"Unlock a New World" of fun and adventure with the 2019 World Scout Jamboree!
Do you know someone who has gone above and beyond to serve the youth in the Apalachee District?
Then nominate them for one of the three awards being presented at the Apalachee Adult Volunteer Recognition Banquet in January.
Nominations are now being accepted for Cub Scout Leader of the Year, Boy Scout Leader of the Year, Cubmaster of the Year, Scoutmaster of the Year, and District Award of Merit. Please use the nomination form and complete it for each and every Scouter you know that goes the extra mile for Scouts in our District. Nomination deadline is December 9th, 2017.
Options for submitting a nomination:
What: LOOP-A-RAMA - There will be one event/adventure offered for each rank that they will work on for the entirety of the event. These adventures would normally take a few weeks to complete in a pack but we are offering a crash course for them to earn it in 3 hours!
When: Saturday, November 4th, 2017 Classes will run from 9:30 am – 12:30 pm
Where: The trails at the Gwinnett Environmental and Heritage Center. These adventures will be completed entirely outside so please come prepared.
Cost: $10 early registration / $15 regular / $20 late includes your belt loop award (see registration form for deadlines) Onsite registration is $25.
Lunch: Please eat breakfast. There is no lunch provided.

Alcovy OldTimers Yule Log
Who: All Sweetwater and Apalachee Scout Troops, Crews, Teams & Posts
What: Yule Log is an annual food drive combined with camping, field meet skill events, Yule Log hunt, a great meal, and a special seasonal campfire
Where: Scoutland, on beautiful Lake Lanier 3685 Looper Lake Road, Gainesville, GA
When: Friday through Sunday, DECEMBER 8-10, 2017
Troops are welcome to camp the entire weekend, or just come for the field events on Saturday
How Much: $5 per person + gift card and canned good donations to local food co-ops. All paid attendees will receive lunch & event patch. Register by Unit at Apalachee & Sweetwater September, October & November roundtables.

The 2018 Northeast Georgia Wood Badge course will be held at Scoutland in Gainesville, GA over the weekends of April 27-29, 2018 and May 18-20, 2018. Participants must attend both weekends. This is the only time Wood Badge will be offered in NEGA during 2018.
Week 1: April 27-29, 2018 Friday to Sunday
Week 2: May 18-20, 2018 Friday to Sunday
Registration will open very soon so be sure to check back … this is the only course for NEGA this year and it will fill up fast!

Leader Specific Training required for all Scoutmasters & Assistants. Fall: Training at New Prospect UMC 2018 Buford Dam Rd. Buford, GA. Sept. 13 & 20 7:00pm-9:30pm. Cost for Fall Course is $6.00. Bring Leaders Guide & Boy Scout Handbook for this course. Proof of current Youth Protection Training must be provided at check in for all leaders attending.
